To ensure your onboarding experience is smooth and hassle-free, there are a few key steps you can take to get your Apple device ready.
1. Verify Your Apple ID
Start by confirming that you know your Apple ID and password. You’ll need these credentials during the setup process.
To check, simply log in at account.apple.com.
2. Set Up Your Device
Ensure your SIM card is active (you will not be able to set up iMessage if it is not!). Make sure your device is signed in with the Apple ID that will be linked to your SnippetSentry dashboard. This is important for syncing and functionality during onboarding.
3. Enable iMessage
iMessage must be activated on your device. Here’s how:
- Open your Settings app
- For iOS 18 and later: Scroll to the bottom and tap “Apps”, then select “Messages”
- For iOS 17 and earlier: Scroll down and tap “Messages” directly from the main Settings menu
- For all iOS, ensure iMessage is toggled on
4. Ensure that “Keep Messages: Forever” is set
Still within the Messages settings:
- scroll down to Message History. Click on “Keep Messages”, and select “Forever”.
5. Confirm “Send & Receive” Details
Still within the Messages settings:
- Tap Send & Receive
- Ensure the correct phone number and email address are selected and enabled
